IMPORTANT NEWS: Updated July 25th

Rehearsals for the July play begin today (July 25), and will be every day this week from 4-6.  The play is open to everyone from age 5 up, but is geared for those 10 and under.  Children may join the cast through Wednesday’s rehearsal.  Curtain will be on Friday, July 30, at 7:30 pm.  All girls need to have a white blouse; all boys a long-sleeved white button down shirt.  Other costumes will be provided.  We are excited to be producing “Cinderella” for the first time in the SPSS’s 53 years of wonderful plays!

Letter from Debba

Dear Small Point families:

I am excited to be working on producing scenes from Cinderella with your children this week!  We will start today (Monday), and sing through the numbers we are performing.  Unless your child wants to be a “lead” (speak lines and perhaps sing a solo), all rehearsals will take place during Summer School hours, with an extra rehearsal on Friday afternoon.

Although this show is designed for the talents of the campers who will not be old enough to be in the August play, I welcome anyone who wants to be a part of it!  There is no guarantee that the same parts would go to the same actors in August, but it would be a great way for older students to become familiar with the show.

We are lucky enough to have a wonderful accompanist, Crystal Cawley, to help out for this show and the one in August.  She and I have worked together extensively in Portland.  As well, I was able to borrow costumes from Waynflete School in Portland, so I don’t foresee any major issue there.  I will need help from parents to paint the set and to help fit the costumes to the actors.  If you would be willing to help, please talk to me or give me a call at 389-2724.

I first directed at the Summer School in 1981.  It seems appropriate that I should be back here 30 years later!

Yours, Debba Curtis
